All 13 passengers abducted along the Makurdi–Otukpo road in Benue State have been successfully rescued by security operatives after a coordinated operation.
The victims were reportedly freed in the early hours of Sunday, bringing relief to residents and travellers who had been worried after the incident on the busy highway.
According to reports, the passengers were among those kidnapped while travelling on a Benue Links commercial bus along the Makurdi–Otukpo axis, an area that has recently experienced repeated cases of kidnapping and armed attacks.
Security sources say the rescue followed a joint operation by troops and police, though full operational details have not been made public. The victims were recovered alive and are currently receiving attention after the ordeal.
Authorities also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to track down the abductors and dismantle criminal networks operating in the area, as insecurity along the route continues to raise concern among commuters and locals.
