A tragic road accident in Abia State has claimed the life of a 200-level student of Abia State University, identified as Ifeanyi Mmesoma Miracle, in a heartbreaking incident that has shocked the university community.
The fatal accident occurred along the Okigwe/Afikpo Expressway in Uturu, where two motorcycles reportedly collided head-on, throwing their passengers onto the road. In the chaos that followed, the student was run over by an oncoming Mack truck, leading to her death at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that the incident happened around the Water Board area of Uturu, drawing widespread attention after a disturbing video from the scene surfaced online.
The Abia State Police Command disclosed that officers from the Motor Traffic Department responded promptly, while injured victims were rushed to the hospital and are currently receiving treatment. The remains of the deceased have since been released to her family after official confirmation of death.
Police also revealed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the accident, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals linked to the incident. The motorcycles and truck involved have been recovered as investigations continue.
