Two Feared Dead as Fire Razes Yobe Community

 

At least two people are feared dead following a devastating fire outbreak in Yobe State, which destroyed several homes and left residents displaced.

The incident occurred in the Sassawa community in Damaturu Local Government Area, where the fire reportedly broke out in the evening and spread rapidly across multiple houses. 

Eyewitnesses said the blaze engulfed buildings within a short time, leaving little opportunity for residents to salvage their belongings. Properties were destroyed, and families were forced to flee for safety as the fire intensified. 

Although the exact cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed, local sources say the scale of destruction was significant, with several households affected. 

Authorities are yet to release an official statement on the incident, while emergency response details remain unclear at the time of reporting.

The tragedy adds to the growing number of fire outbreaks across communities, raising concerns about safety measures and emergency response in vulnerable areas.
