Nigerian troops have arrested two individuals suspected of working as informants for terrorist groups in Borno State, in what authorities describe as a targeted intelligence-led operation.
The suspects were apprehended by troops of Operation Hadin Kai in the Mainok area of Kaga Local Government Area following credible intelligence about suspicious movements in the region.
According to security sources, the operation was carried out in the early hours of the morning after local intelligence flagged unusual activity. Troops swiftly mobilised and intercepted the suspects while they were moving within the area.
Items recovered from them included electrical cables, which authorities believe may be linked to terrorist logistics or support operations—raising concerns about possible sabotage or assistance to insurgent groups.
The suspects are currently in military custody and undergoing preliminary investigation to determine:
- Their exact roles
- Possible links to groups like Boko Haram or ISWAP
- The extent of their involvement in aiding attacks
