Security forces operating in Ebonyi State have arrested a group of suspected cultists and recovered a locally made pistol along with ammunition.

According to officials, the arrests were made during a targeted security operation aimed at curbing cult-related violence and criminal activity in parts of the state. The suspects were apprehended following credible intelligence suggesting they were involved in violent clashes and unlawful possession of firearms.

During the operation, troops recovered a locally fabricated pistol, several rounds of live ammunition, and other items believed to be linked to cult activities. The suspects were taken into custody and are expected to be handed over to the relevant police authority for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Security forces described the arrests as part of ongoing efforts to dismantle criminal networks and improve safety in Ebonyi’s communities, where cult clashes have previously led to loss of life and disruption of peace.

Authorities have also urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to help security agencies maintain stability in the region.
