A teacher and two students narrowly escaped death following a road accident in Lagos, after the vehicle conveying them was involved in a collision.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. in the Onipanu area, when two vehicles reportedly speeding crashed into each other along the expressway.
According to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the accident involved a Honda Accord and a Suzuki Alto carrying the teacher and two students from Lagos State Model Junior College, Igbonla, Epe.
The impact of the collision caused one of the vehicles to veer into the opposite lane, resulting in significant damage to both cars. Despite the severity of the crash, no fatalities were recorded, and all occupants survived.
However, the two students sustained minor injuries, including head and eye discomfort, and were immediately treated by emergency responders at the scene before being handed over to their parents.
The teacher, identified as Mr. Joseph, was also safely evacuated alongside the students. Emergency officials secured the scene and towed the damaged vehicle to prevent further accidents, while the case was handed over to the Nigeria Police Force for investigation.
LASEMA has since urged motorists to avoid speeding and adhere strictly to traffic regulations, warning that reckless driving remains a major cause of road accidents across the state.
The incident serves as yet another reminder of the dangers on Lagos roads and the importance of prioritising safety to prevent avoidable tragedies.
