Security operatives have successfully rescued three worshippers who were abducted during a recent church attack in Kwara State.
The victims were among those kidnapped when suspected bandits stormed an Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) in Omugo community, Ifelodun Local Government Area, during a Sunday service.
Following the attack, a joint operation involving police, soldiers, forest guards, and local vigilantes was launched. The coordinated response forced the attackers to retreat into nearby forests and led to the rescue of three victims.
Authorities confirmed that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining abducted worshippers, as several victims are still believed to be in captivity.
The Kwara State government condemned the attack, describing it as cowardly and unacceptable, while commending security agencies for their swift intervention.
The incident adds to growing concerns over insecurity in parts of the country, particularly attacks targeting vulnerable communities and places of worship.
While the rescue offers some relief, attention now shifts to the fate of those still held and the urgent need to prevent further attacks.
