Popular Nigerian comedian and content creator Samuel Animashaun Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggy, has reportedly been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury while filming a comedy skit in Sango‑Ota, Ogun State.
According to reports, the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon under the Sango-Ota bridge while the comedian was recording a skit with members of his production crew. During the filming session, Shaggy allegedly sustained a gunshot wound, though the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear.
Sources said members of his crew quickly rushed him to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State, where he received initial medical attention. Medical personnel reportedly administered first aid before he was later transferred to another medical facility in Ikeja for further treatment and recovery.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed that the hospital contacted authorities after a gunshot victim was brought to the facility. Police officers who arrived at the hospital later discovered that the injured individual was the popular skit maker. A police spokesperson stated that he had an injury to his thigh when officers saw him on a stretcher.
However, the Ogun State Police Command said it could not immediately confirm that the incident occurred within its jurisdiction, noting that the matter had not been formally reported to the command. Authorities have nonetheless begun looking into the circumstances surrounding the alleged shooting.
The development has sparked concern among fans and followers of the entertainer, who rose to prominence through viral comedy skits on social media and later became one of Nigeria’s most recognised online comedians and actors.
As investigations continue, supporters across social media have expressed hope for the comedian’s quick recovery while awaiting official clarification on how the incident occurred during the filming session.
