The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has sanctioned 24 corps members serving in Sokoto State over various acts of misconduct during their service year.
According to officials, the affected corps members were penalised for offences ranging from abscondment and persistent absenteeism to other violations of NYSC regulations.
The State Coordinator of the scheme disclosed this during a passing-out ceremony, stressing that the NYSC maintains a zero-tolerance policy for indiscipline. He explained that sanctions are necessary to uphold the integrity of the programme and ensure that participants comply with established rules.
While details of each individual case were not fully disclosed, such disciplinary measures within the NYSC often include extension of service year or other penalties, depending on the severity of the offence.
The development highlights the scheme’s continued emphasis on discipline, responsibility, and active participation among corps members posted across the country.
