In a major development affecting the Nigerian diaspora, the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has released the names and photos of 130 Nigerian nationals who are slated for deportation after being convicted of serious crimes in the U.S.
The DHS described those on the list as part of its “worst‑of‑the‑worst” criminal register—individuals whose convictions made them priority cases for removal under U.S. immigration enforcement policies.
Although the full list includes personal names and photos, authorities have not yet disclosed the exact timeline for when the deportations will take place or detailed specifics about the offences for each person.
Some of the names released include Boluwaji Akingunsoye, Ejike Asiegbunam, Emmanuel Mayegun Adeola, Bamidele Bolatiwa, Ifeanyi Nwaozomudoh, and Many others who are now on the public register awaiting removal to Nigeria.
The U.S. embassy in Nigeria has also previously warned Nigerians about the consequences of overstaying visas or violating U.S. immigration laws, noting that such actions can negatively impact opportunities for travel and legal stays in the U.S. for other Nigerians.
This move comes amid intensified enforcement by U.S. authorities targeting non‑citizens with serious criminal convictions as part of broader immigration policy.
