A surprising wave of criticism has surrounded Arsenal wonderkid Max Dowman—but not because of poor performance.

Instead, the 16-year-old rising star is being urged to leave the club immediately.

The call didn’t come from within Arsenal, but from outspoken talkSPORT pundit Adrian Durham, who believes staying at the club could hurt Dowman’s long-term development.

Dowman, who recently made history as the youngest Premier League goalscorer, is widely seen as one of England’s brightest young talents. But despite his rapid rise, concerns are growing about how young players are handled under manager Mikel Arteta.

Durham’s argument is simple but blunt:

Arsenal’s system may not give young talents enough consistent opportunities to grow.

He pointed to other academy prospects whose careers, in his view, have stalled or been mismanaged, warning that Dowman could face a similar fate if he stays.

Some critics even suggest that Arteta prioritises big-money signings over youth development, making it harder for academy players to secure regular playing time.
