Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, is set to resume full academic activities on Monday following a student protest that temporarily disrupted normal operations on campus.
The protest reportedly began after students raised concerns over issues affecting their welfare and academic experience. While the specific grievances varied, students expressed dissatisfaction with administrative decisions and called for urgent intervention from the school management and relevant authorities.
Demonstrations led to the temporary suspension of activities as tension rose within and around the campus. Security personnel were deployed to maintain order and prevent escalation. No major injuries were reported, and the situation was brought under control after discussions between student leaders and management representatives.
Following engagements aimed at addressing the concerns raised, the institution announced the reopening of the school, assuring students that dialogue channels remain open for resolving future disputes. The management emphasized its commitment to maintaining a peaceful academic environment and ensuring that learning continues without further disruption.
Authorities have urged students to remain calm, law-abiding, and to channel their grievances through appropriate institutional structures rather than resorting to protests that interrupt academic progress.
With normalcy restored, lectures and other academic activities are expected to resume fully, marking the end of the brief shutdown.
