State as the Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has officially resigned from office.

His resignation was confirmed by his spokesperson, bringing an abrupt end to his tenure in the state’s executive arm.

But this is not just a resignation it is the climax of a brewing political storm.

For weeks, tensions had been building between Gwarzo and the Kano State House of Assembly. Lawmakers had already initiated impeachment proceedings, accusing him of misconduct, abuse of office, and financial irregularities linked to his previous role in government.

Facing mounting pressure, the deputy governor stepped down before the process could fully play out.

Interestingly, his camp insists the resignation is not an admission of guilt. Instead, it has been framed as a move to preserve stability in the state and prevent further political crisis.

Behind the scenes, however, the situation reflects deeper shifts in Kano’s political landscape.

Recent realignments including the defection of key political figures have intensified internal power struggles. In that context, Gwarzo’s exit appears less like an isolated decision and more like part of a broader restructuring of political control in the state.
