Security operatives have successfully rescued two young women who were abducted by suspected kidnappers in Edo State.
Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 4 Brigade and other security personnel responded to credible intelligence and a pursuit in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area, forcing the gunmen to flee and freeing the two victims. The women, identified as sisters, were reportedly abducted from their residence in the area three days earlier before the rescue operation.
The coordinated effort came as part of ongoing operations to counter kidnapping and other violent crimes in the region. Security forces have been carrying out regular patrols and intelligence‑driven missions aimed at disrupting criminal networks and ensuring the safety of residents.
In a related development, troops also arrested 58 suspected illegal miners in a separate operation, underscoring the broader clampdown on criminal activities in the state.
The rescued sisters are now in safe custody and are expected to be reunited with their family, while investigations continue to track down their abductors.
