A terrifying fire has swept through a high-rise building in northern China, leaving multiple people trapped and sparking a large-scale emergency response.
The blaze broke out in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, where flames rapidly climbed the exterior of a multi-storey structure, sending thick black smoke into the sky and causing panic among residents.
Eyewitness footage shows the building almost completely engulfed, with debris and burning materials falling from upper floors as emergency teams rushed to the scene.
Early reports indicate that at least one person has died, while over 20 others were injured, some critically.
Rescue operations were immediately launched, with firefighters, à°ªోà°²ీà°¸ుà°²ు, and emergency responders working to evacuate occupants and search for those still trapped inside. Authorities say efforts continued even after the fire was brought under control, as teams combed through the building for survivors.
Another report suggests the fire engulfed a large portion of the building, with casualties possibly higher in initial assessments.
While the exact cause of the fire remains unclear, early indications suggest it may have started on the building’s exterior before spreading rapidly upward a pattern often seen in high-rise fires involving flammable materials.
Beyond the immediate tragedy, the incident has reignited concerns about fire safety in densely populated buildings, especially in fast-growing urban areas where evacuation can be difficult and fires spread quickly.
