The Anambra State Government has demolished a building identified as a hub for drug trafficking and prostitution sending a clear message about its zero-tolerance stance on crime.

The property, known as Airtight Guest House and Bar, located in Okpuno, Awka South Local Government Area, was brought down after a security raid uncovered a large cache of hard drugs within the premises.

According to reports, the facility was not just a guest house it allegedly operated as a brothel and criminal hideout, where illicit activities thrived under the radar.

The demolition followed a coordinated operation by security operatives, acting on intelligence about ongoing illegal activities at the location. During the raid, authorities reportedly discovered:

  • Significant quantities of hard drugs
  • Evidence linking the building to organised criminal activity
  • Items suggesting the premises served as a base for both drug distribution and prostitution

Rather than sealing the property, the government opted for outright demolition a move that reflects a growing trend in Anambra’s approach to crime control.

This strategy is not just about punishment it is about deterrence.

By tearing down properties linked to criminal networks, authorities aim to eliminate safe havens for illegal activities and send a strong signal to others operating similar setups across the state.
