What should have been a glamorous Nollywood night quickly turned into online drama, after an unexpected moment between Funke Akindele and Toyin Abraham went viral.
The incident happened at the premiere of Iyabo Ojo’s film “The Return of Arinzo” in Lagos, where top industry stars gathered for the event.
In a now widely circulated video, Toyin Abraham is seen approaching Akindele and attempting to greet her. However, Akindele appears to ignore the greeting, keeping a straight face and looking away an action many have interpreted as a deliberate snub.
Moments before that, Abraham had greeted other colleagues at the same table, including Mercy Aigbe and Iyabo Ojo, who acknowledged her warmly making the contrast even more noticeable.
The reaction was immediate.
Social media has since been divided:
- Some fans called Akindele’s behaviour “intentional and disrespectful”
- Others argued it could have been a misunderstanding, distraction, or timing issue in a crowded event setting
