A shocking incident has been reported in Anambra State, where a man allegedly killed his lover’s son following a prolonged dispute over their relationship.
The tragedy occurred in Uli community, located in Ihiala Local Government Area, where the suspect identified simply as Gozie was said to have been in a strained relationship with the victim, a young man in his 20s.
According to residents, tension had been building for some time as the victim repeatedly opposed the man’s relationship with his mother, leading to frequent arguments and confrontations.
Reports indicate that the situation escalated on a Sunday night when the suspect allegedly attacked the young man in his room while he was asleep. His body was discovered days later by neighbours, who became suspicious after not seeing anyone in the compound for a while.
Eyewitnesses said the victim was found with severe machete wounds, sparking outrage within the community. The suspect and the victim’s mother reportedly fled the area immediately after the incident.
The killing triggered further tension, as angry youths from a neighbouring community allegedly retaliated by attacking and burning properties linked to the suspect’s family.
Police sources confirmed that the case has been reported and that investigations are ongoing, with efforts being made to apprehend the suspects who remain at large.
