Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has denied reports claiming he forwarded the name of a governorship aspirant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
The governor, through his spokesperson, described the claim as false and misleading, insisting that no such recommendation or endorsement has been made. The statement emphasized that any reports suggesting he has anointed or backed a successor are baseless and do not reflect his position.
According to the government, AbdulRazaq remains focused on governance and has not begun any process of selecting or promoting a candidate for the next election cycle. The administration also warned against speculation capable of creating unnecessary political tension within the state.
The denial comes amid growing political discussions and early permutations ahead of 2027, where stakeholders across parties are already positioning and testing public reactions. However, the governor made it clear that no official move has been taken regarding succession planning
