Thousands of Sudanese civilians have escaped the ongoing conflict in their country and crossed into neighboring Chad in search of safety, humanitarian assistance, and refuge from violence. The mass movement of people reflects the deepening crisis in Sudan, where armed clashes and insecurity have forced entire communities to flee their homes.
Refugees arriving in eastern Chad have described harrowing journeys marked by fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty. Many walked long distances on foot, carrying only basic belongings, as they fled fighting between rival armed groups and government forces that has engulfed large parts of Sudan. Some families reported being displaced multiple times before crossing the border to escape danger.
Humanitarian agencies operating in the region have said they are working to provide urgent assistance to the newly arrived refugees, including shelter, food, clean water, medical care, and protection services.
