Nollywood actor Kunle Afod has criticised the absence of emergency responders at the scene of a road accident along the Ibadan–Shagamu Expressway in Ogun State, appealing to the state government and relevant agencies to urgently assist the victims.
Afod raised the alarm in a video shared on his Instagram page on Friday, November 6, 2026, after encountering the accident at Shapade. He said he had spent about 20 minutes at the scene without seeing an ambulance or emergency response team arrive.
In the video, the actor showed several people lying on the road near a vehicle involved in the crash. He expressed concern that the victims appeared helpless and said repeated attempts to contact emergency responders had not produced assistance.
“It’s a terrible accident we came across on the way along the Ibadan–Shagamu Expressway right now, and it’s so sad that for about 20 minutes that we’ve been here there has been no ambulance, no emergency services to come and help them,” he said.
Afod also questioned why other motorists were allegedly not stopping to assist the injured people. He appealed to members of the public to help draw attention to the situation and called on the Ogun State Government, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other emergency agencies to intervene.
In the caption accompanying the video, the actor specifically identified the location as Shapade and urged rescue teams to respond immediately, warning that lives could be at risk.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE) confirmed a serious single-vehicle accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. In an alert issued through its Saapade Unit Command, the agency said its operatives were monitoring the incident and that traffic flow had not been affected.
TRACE added that further details would be made available as they emerged.
As of the time the report was published, the cause of the crash, the number of people involved and the condition of the victims had not been officially established. There was also no official response from the relevant emergency agencies addressing Afod’s complaint about the delay in rescue assistance.
The incident has renewed attention on emergency response along major highways, where timely medical assistance can be critical following road crashes.
