Nigerian singer and entrepreneur, Oladapo Oyebanji, popularly known as D’banj, has partnered with United States-based music company Cinq Music Group to make selected international songs available to Nigerian music fans through Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD).

The partnership, announced on Friday, November 6, 2026, through D’banj’s entertainment platform, C.R.E.A.M. (Creative Reality Entertainment Art and Music), will allow Nigerians to purchase full-track downloads and caller ring-back tones at prices tailored to the local market.

The first song available through the initiative is American rapper T.I.’s hit track, Live Your Life, featuring Barbadian singer Rihanna. The recording leads the initial selection of international music licensed through Cinq Music Group for distribution on the platform.

According to a statement from C.R.E.A.M., the partnership is designed to make internationally recognised music more accessible through payment channels developed for Nigerian consumers. Fans will be able to complete purchases using USSD rather than relying solely on conventional digital music platforms.

The platform explained that the arrangement would also provide participating music rights holders with clearer records of local consumer demand. Each completed purchase generates a transaction receipt that can help track sales and assess the commercial performance of recordings in the Nigerian market.

Speaking on the development, D’banj said the initiative would help ensure that value generated from music purchases in Nigeria is recorded within the local market.

“When the receipt is generated here, the asset gets value here. A stream is a data point. A sale is a receipt. C.R.E.A.M. is owned here, priced here and pays here,” he said.

He added that the platform’s broader mission was to establish more direct connections between artists and their audiences, while creating opportunities for fan participation and engagement.

C.R.E.A.M. operates as a direct-to-fan platform that provides services covering talent discovery, content distribution, monetisation, fan engagement, rewards and gaming. The partnership with Cinq Music is expected to expand its catalogue beyond locally available recordings by introducing selected international music.

The company also indicated that Nigeria would serve as the launch market for a potential expansion into other African countries. However, any expansion will depend on music rights agreements, commercial arrangements and the availability of suitable local infrastructure. Further details about additional songs and territories are expected to be announced as agreements are finalised.
