Arsenal have suffered a double injury setback ahead of their UEFA Champions League encounter with Lille after manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that Piero Hincapie and Martin Zubimendi will miss Tuesday’s fixture.

The two players sustained ankle injuries during a post-match training session following Arsenal’s 2–1 Premier League victory over Leeds United on Saturday. Arteta disclosed the development on Monday while addressing the media ahead of the Champions League match at the Emirates Stadium.

Hincapie, an Ecuadorian defender who joined Arsenal on loan from Bayer Leverkusen, was reportedly carried off the pitch after sustaining his injury during the session. Zubimendi, the Spanish midfielder, also suffered an ankle problem while participating in training with players who had limited playing time against Leeds.

Speaking about the injuries, Arteta described the incidents as unfortunate and said the club would conduct further medical examinations to determine their severity and establish how long the players would remain unavailable.
