President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that only Almighty Allah determines what a person becomes in life, stressing his belief in divine authority and the importance of faith.
The President made the remarks on Friday, October 30, 2026, while speaking with journalists shortly after performing the lesser Hajj, known as Umrah, in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Tinubu expressed gratitude to Allah for the opportunity to undertake the spiritual exercise, describing the pilgrimage as a significant moment for him personally and for Nigeria.
He said his participation reflected his love for Nigerians, commitment to his responsibilities as President and belief that the will of Allah must prevail.
“There is no other God but Allah. He is the only one who can define a human being, what he will be and what he will become,” Tinubu said.
The President explained that his prayers during the pilgrimage were focused on Nigeria and the wellbeing of its citizens.
He prayed for lasting peace, national unity, harmony and stability, while asking Allah to guide the country’s leaders with wisdom and strengthen the bonds of brotherhood among Nigerians.
“We have just prayed for our nation, for everyone to live in peace and harmony, happiness and faith in God Almighty,” he added.
Tinubu also expressed hope that Nigeria would continue making progress towards economic prosperity, social development and improved security.
The Presidency disclosed that the President performed the religious rites early Friday morning at the Grand Mosque, Masjid al-Haram, where he circumambulated the Holy Ka’abah in worship and thanksgiving.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency said Tinubu sought Allah’s continued guidance and protection for Nigeria and its people.
The President’s visit to Saudi Arabia comes as political activities gradually intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections. His remarks also highlighted his belief that the outcome of human ambitions and political pursuits ultimately rests with Allah.
