The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of three people at the Cocoa Research Institute of Nigeria (CRIN), in Ibadan, assuring the public that efforts are underway to secure their release.

The victims were reportedly abducted while inspecting crops on a farm within the institute’s premises. The incident occurred at the institute in the Idi-Ayunre area of Oluyole Local Government Area, according to media reports.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Friday. He said the command had launched a manhunt for the suspected kidnappers and commenced operations to rescue the victims safely.

Ayanlade said security personnel were working to locate the abducted individuals and apprehend those responsible. The police also appealed to members of the public with credible information that could assist the operation to report to the nearest police station or contact the command through its emergency channels.

The abduction has renewed concerns about security at the research institute, where previous kidnapping incidents have reportedly occurred this year. The latest incident has also prompted concern among workers over their safety while carrying out official duties on the premises.

As of the latest police statement, the command had not announced the rescue of the victims or the arrest of any suspects. The police said efforts remained ongoing to secure their safe return and bring those responsible to justice.
