An Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court in Ogun State has granted bail to three suspects accused of assaulting and obstructing police officers performing their duties.

The suspects — 51-year-old Alaba Mulika, 21-year-old Alawode Iyanu and 29-year-old Temitope Saliu — were granted bail in the sum of N500,000 each following their arraignment on Friday.

The Ogun State Police Command had earlier announced that the trio would be charged after an investigation into an incident that occurred on September 29, 2026, in Ago-Iwoye.

According to the police, a team led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel had intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry at Fibigbade Street and was conveying the vehicle to the station when a Toyota Highlander allegedly blocked its movement at Abobi Street.

The command said a physical confrontation subsequently occurred, during which Inspector Abolarinwa Wasiu and Corporal Olubamiro Adeniyi were allegedly assaulted.

Police said video recordings of the incident circulated on social media and formed part of the materials reviewed during the investigation. Detectives also visited the scene before the three suspects were arrested.

The suspects were charged with five counts bordering on alleged conspiracy, obstruction of police officers, serious assault and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, among other allegations.

The case reportedly followed a separate viral video involving a middle-aged woman alleged to have confronted police officers with a knife after an arrest linked to the sale of Indian hemp in Ijebu Igbo. The police confirmed the woman’s arrest and said investigations were ongoing.
