Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has defended President Bola Tinubu, urging Nigerians to be patient with his administration and arguing that the country’s challenges did not begin under the current government.

Anuku made the remarks during an appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he said Nigerians were too eager to see immediate results from the Tinubu administration.

“Nigeria has to be patient for the renewed hope of this man, and the country was not spoiled by him. There were people there before him,” the actor said.

He questioned why previous administrations were not being held to the same level of scrutiny, while acknowledging that Tinubu now has the responsibility of addressing the problems he inherited.

“He has to fix it now. He’s doing great. Nigeria should be patient. We’re in too much of a hurry,” Anuku said.

The actor also said he remained supportive of Tinubu and argued that the President should be allowed to complete his tenure. He suggested that there was no guarantee that whoever succeeds Tinubu would perform better.

Anuku further dismissed suggestions that he had been paid to speak positively about the President, insisting that his comments represented his personal view.

“No one pays me. How many people can be better than him because he’s this and that? Most people who are going to come, maybe after, maybe they’re even worse off,” he said.

The actor’s comments have generated reactions online, with some Nigerians challenging his assessment of the administration and others defending his right to express his political opinion.

Anuku’s comments come amid continued public debate over the impact of the Tinubu administration’s economic policies and the difficulties faced by Nigerians, particularly around the cost of living. His call for patience reflects his personal assessment of the government and does not constitute an independent evaluation of its performance.
