Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha has announced the death of her father, Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka, in an emotional tribute shared on Instagram on Friday.
The actress said the loss was particularly painful because she lost her mother 13 years ago, meaning she is now without either parent.
“My beloved father, Leonard Ndukaife Chukwuka, has gone to be with the Lord,” Chioma wrote, describing her late father as “my daddy, papa’m, obara’m, my comfort” and a precious part of her life.
Despite her grief, the actress expressed gratitude that her father lived a long life and was able to see his children and grandchildren. She said the family had hoped he would also live to meet his great-grandchildren.
Reflecting on the loss, Chioma said that no matter how many years people spend with their parents, they still wish for more time, including another conversation, embrace or day together.
She also recalled the precious moments she shared with her father, particularly towards the end of his life.
Chioma said she initially kept the news private while trying to process her grief before deciding to announce it publicly. She appealed to fans, friends and well-wishers to keep her, her siblings and the entire Chukwuka family in their prayers.
The actress added that details of her father’s funeral would be announced when the family was ready.
She ended the tribute by describing her late father as the “Olowo of Ikate” and writing, “I will always love you.”
