The home of Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes in Cheshire, England, was burgled while the Portuguese midfielder was in Italy for his club’s UEFA Champions League match against Como.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, October 21, 2026, while Fernandes was representing United in their European fixture against the Italian side. Cheshire Police confirmed that a burglary had taken place at a residential property in the Alderley Park area of Nether Alderley, although officers did not publicly identify the homeowner.

According to reports, police were alerted at about 8:30 p.m. after a caller reported seeing three unknown men in the rear garden of a neighbouring property. Officers arrived at the scene but found that the suspects had already fled. Investigators subsequently discovered that several items had been stolen from the residence.

Detective Inspector David Jarvis of Cheshire Police said the investigation was still at an early stage, adding that officers were committed to identifying and apprehending those responsible. He appealed to anyone who might have witnessed suspicious activity in the area to contact the police.

Reports indicated that Fernandes’ family were not at home when the burglary occurred and that the intruders spent less than five minutes inside the property before police arrived. Manchester United are understood to be supporting their captain and his family following the incident.

The break-in came on a difficult evening for Fernandes, whose side suffered a 4–1 defeat to Como in Italy. The midfielder featured in the match before being substituted in the second half as United endured another disappointing result.

Following the defeat, Fernandes publicly questioned aspects of the team’s tactical approach, arguing that the players needed to be more courageous when pressing their opponents. His comments added to the scrutiny surrounding United’s performances during a difficult run of results.

The burglary is the latest in a series of incidents involving the homes of professional footballers in the Cheshire area. Other players whose properties have reportedly been targeted include Manchester City midfielder Rúben Dias, Jack Grealish, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez.

Police investigations into the incident are ongoing, and authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as efforts continue to trace the suspects.
