The Chairman of Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Yahya Saidu, has died less than three months after assuming office.

Saidu reportedly died on Friday at a hospital in Kaduna. His death was confirmed on Saturday by the Adamawa State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), which expressed sadness over the loss.

The state ALGON chairman, Titus Obadiah, described the deceased as a dedicated leader who served his people with commitment. In a condolence statement, he extended sympathies to Saidu’s family, friends, associates and the people of Fufore, while praying for strength and comfort for those mourning him.

Saidu was sworn in as chairman of Fufore Local Government Area on July 15, 2026, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His death comes less than three months into his tenure.

His passing has also drawn attention to the council’s recent history, as his predecessor, Shuaibu Babas, died while in office on April 23, 2025.

Meanwhile, Aliyu Wakili, the member of the House of Representatives representing Fufore/Song Federal Constituency, also expressed condolences over Saidu’s death, describing it as a significant loss to the area and Adamawa State.
