Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has warned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against internal divisions, urging them to unite and mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Aiyedatiwa gave the warning on Saturday while inaugurating the Ondo State APC Presidential Election Campaign Council, its directorates and sub-committees at the International Culture and Event Centre in Akure, the state capital.

The governor, who chairs the campaign council, said unity and coalition-building were crucial to the party’s electoral success, recalling that the alliance of political parties that formed the APC in 2014 helped it defeat the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2015 presidential election.

He cautioned that the APC’s size and political influence would not guarantee victory if members allowed internal disagreements to weaken the party.

“As large as we are, if we are not together, it will be difficult to win the elections. That is why it is very important that we must remain united,” the governor said.

Aiyedatiwa urged party members in Ondo State to learn from the divisions that affected the PDP and ensure that similar disagreements did not undermine the APC’s chances in the forthcoming elections.

He stressed that retaining political power was important for advancing the interests of party members and their communities, adding that leaders and supporters must work collectively towards the party’s success.

The governor also encouraged the campaign council to highlight the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration and his own government in Ondo State during their mobilisation efforts.

He cited projects and programmes in road construction, healthcare, education and graduate training as areas the party could present to voters.

Speaking at the event, Ondo State Deputy Governor, Olayide Adelami, called on APC members to intensify grassroots mobilisation, setting a target of one million votes for Tinubu in the state.
