Two men have been sentenced to prison over the violent 2023 home invasion involving Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma and his pregnant partner, Alessia Elefante, in Paris.
Ilyas Kherbouch, 21, was sentenced to nine years in prison and fined €80,000 by the Paris Criminal Court on Friday after being convicted of masterminding the robbery. Prosecutors had sought a 10-year prison term.
However, Khyan Mamouni, 22, who was accused of being a second organiser of the attack, was acquitted by the court. Earlier reports had indicated that prosecutors were seeking nine years in prison for him.
The incident occurred in July 2023 while Donnarumma was playing for Paris Saint-Germain. Four masked men reportedly broke into the couple’s apartment on the prestigious Avenue Montaigne while they were asleep.
Court documents revealed that Donnarumma was struck in the face with a knuckle duster and threatened with a knife. He was subsequently tied up while the attackers demanded his valuables.
Elefante, who was pregnant at the time, was also assaulted. She told investigators that the robbers pulled her by the hair and hit her on the thighs even after she informed them that she was pregnant.
The attackers reportedly escaped with cash, luxury watches, jewellery, designer handbags and the keys to a Mercedes and Lamborghini. The value of the stolen property was estimated at hundreds of thousands of euros.
Moktar Diop, 24, another defendant, admitted taking part in the burglary but was not accused of using violence. Two other accomplices who were minors at the time of the robbery had previously received prison sentences of three and four years. A fourth suspect died by suicide in prison in 2024.
Donnarumma and Elefante, who have since married, were not present for the trial. The couple’s lawyers previously said they remained deeply traumatised by the attack.
