Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has met with heads of security agencies in the state ahead of President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Lagos and increased activities expected across the state.
Sanwo-Olu held the security council meeting on Tuesday at the State House, Marina, where he received briefings on ongoing security operations and measures to strengthen security ahead of the President’s visit and the end-of-year festivities.
The meeting was disclosed in a statement by the Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso.
Sanwo-Olu assured residents and visitors that the state government would continue taking measures to prevent criminal activities and protect lives and property.
“We will not relent on our efforts to ensure that criminals don’t find a place for their evil activities in our state,” the governor said.
Those present at the meeting included the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai; Commander, 9 Brigade, Ikeja, Brigadier-General A.O. Owolabi; Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu; Commander, 651 Base Services Group, Ikeja, Air Commodore M.A. Imam; and Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Ayodele Ogunsan.
Also in attendance were the governor’s Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde; Secretary to the State Government, Abimbola Hundeyin; and the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General, Lawal Pedro.
According to Omotoso, Lagos is expecting increased movement and activities during the Yuletide, alongside religious, cultural and political events. He added that the state would host President Tinubu from Tuesday.
The Federal Government had earlier announced that Tinubu would return to Nigeria through Lagos on September 29 and remain in the state for activities marking Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
