The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has accused the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke of victimising local government workers amid the prolonged crisis over the control of the state’s councils.
The APC alleged that local government employees had been caught in the middle of the political dispute and were facing hardship as a result of the ongoing disagreement over the administration of the councils.
The party’s Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, made the allegation in a statement, accusing the state government of using the local government crisis to target workers who disagreed with its position.
The controversy over Osun’s local governments has persisted since the dispute involving the elected APC council chairmen and councillors and the administration of Governor Adeleke.
The governor has maintained that the APC council officials were removed by court judgments and that the state conducted fresh local government elections in February 2025. Adeleke has also accused opponents of unlawfully occupying council secretariats and said the dispute had affected the release and administration of local government funds.
The APC, however, has continued to challenge the state government’s handling of the councils and has raised concerns about the treatment of local government workers.
The latest accusation adds to the broader political and legal dispute over the control of Osun’s local government administration, with both sides maintaining opposing positions on the legality of the arrangements in place.
