Veteran Nollywood actor Ebun Oloyede, popularly known as Olaiya Igwe, has debunked reports that he is seriously ill after a video showing him appearing weak and unwell went viral on social media.
The actor clarified in a video that the footage was taken from a movie production and did not show his real-life health condition. He said he is healthy and urged fans and members of the public to disregard reports suggesting otherwise.
The viral clip had sparked concern among his fans, with many social media users expressing fears about the actor’s wellbeing and speculating about his health.
Reacting to the reports, Olaiya Igwe explained that the scene was part of a film and that his appearance in the video was purely for the role he was portraying.
He expressed concern over the way the clip was circulated without context, saying it led to unnecessary rumours about his health.
The veteran actor, who has featured in numerous Yoruba-language films throughout his career, reassured his supporters that he is alive, well and in good health.
The clarification has since prompted fans to dismiss the earlier reports and focus instead on the actor’s ongoing work in the Nigerian film industry.
