The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects and recovered two suspected stolen vehicles, three firearms and 25 Automated Teller Machine cards during a series of operations across the state.
The command said the operations were conducted between September 16 and 26, 2026, as part of efforts to strengthen security and tackle criminal activities across Ogun State. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday.
According to the police, detectives attached to the Owode Egba Division recovered a stolen commercial TVS motorcycle at Mokoloki Village on September 17, following a complaint lodged the previous day. Two suspects, Rasheed Abdul and Saula Meshinoye, were arrested, while another suspect identified as Saheed remains at large.
In a separate operation on September 19, operatives of the Olorunda Division intercepted three people allegedly transporting stolen electrical materials on a motorcycle along Ayetoro Road. Mutiu Gafar, 19, and Fatai Obasanmi, 37, were arrested, while a third suspect, identified as Tosin, escaped.
The police said bundles of electrical wiring, a change-over electrical box and a circuit breaker box were recovered from the suspects.
Also, operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics unit arrested three men — Olamide Ayandele, 30, Tope Samuel, 40, and Ayo Peter Ojo, 30 — on September 21 after intercepting an unregistered tricycle and a TVS motorcycle in the Dalemo area of Ota.
Preliminary investigations allegedly linked the suspects to vehicle theft around the Ijoko axis, while efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest other persons who may be connected to the alleged activities.
On September 22, officers attached to the Igbesa Division arrested Ameachine Anthony, 45, over an alleged N2.5m fraud. Police said 25 ATM cards and several mobile phones were recovered from him.
The command alleged that preliminary investigations indicated the suspect used newly acquired SIM cards and associates to facilitate bank accounts before collecting ATM cards allegedly intended for fraudulent transactions. He and the recovered exhibits were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation.
On the same day, SWAT operatives arrested Peter Olanrewaju, 34, following information about a suspected cult-related gathering. Further investigation led to the arrest of Adebayo Sodiq, 36, from whom police said they recovered one pump-action rifle and two locally made pistols.
Detectives from the Ijebu-Ode Area Crime Office also recovered a Safira vehicle reportedly taken from its owner and arrested Olatunji Olalekan following investigation and intelligence gathering. The vehicle has been secured as an exhibit while investigations continue.
