Enugu Rangers defender Ifeanyi Onyebuchi has successfully undergone surgery after aggravating an injury during a pre-season fixture in August.
Rangers International confirmed the development on Tuesday, saying the centre-back had completed the scheduled procedure and would now begin his rehabilitation programme.
“Ifeanyi Onyebuchi has successfully undergone his scheduled procedure,” the club said in a statement, wishing the defender a “smooth and speedy recovery” and expressing its hope of seeing him back on the pitch.
Onyebuchi initially sustained an injury during Rangers’ NPFL clash against Bendel Insurance, which ruled him out of the 2024 African Nations Championship. He subsequently underwent treatment and rehabilitation before returning to competitive action.
However, the defender aggravated the injury during a pre-season match in August, making another surgical procedure necessary.
The 26-year-old centre-back has been an important part of the Rangers squad in recent seasons. He was also listed among the players unavailable for the club’s NPFL fixture against Kun Khalifat earlier this month.
Rangers will now hope Onyebuchi makes a full recovery as he begins another period of rehabilitation, with the club yet to announce a specific timeline for his return to competitive football.
