Nigerian Army declares ‘Gentle The Yahoo’ wanted, offers ₦30m reward

 

The Nigerian military, through the Joint Task Force South-East, Operation Udoka, has declared Ifeanyi Eze Okorienta, popularly known as “Gentle The Yahoo,” wanted and offered a ₦30 million reward for information leading to his arrest.

The wanted notice, circulated by the task force on Sunday, described Okorienta as a threat to peace in the South-East and appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist security agencies in locating and apprehending him.

According to the notice, a reward of ₦30 million awaits anyone whose information leads to the capture of the wanted suspect. 

The task force urged residents to support ongoing security efforts aimed at curbing violence and criminal activities across the region, using the campaign message, “Give Peace A Chance.”

Members of the public with credible information have been advised to contact security authorities through the emergency number 193 or 0806 795 9570. The military said information could be provided anonymously. 

The wanted notice also carried the messages, “No Violence, No Criminality in the South East,” alongside Okorienta’s photograph.

The declaration comes amid intensified military and security operations across the South-East targeting individuals suspected of involvement in violent and other criminal activities.

The military, however, warned members of the public against attempting to confront or apprehend Okorienta themselves if they sight him. Instead, residents were urged to immediately pass any information about his whereabouts to the appropriate security authorities through the designated channels.

The latest declaration also comes against the background of previous reports concerning Okorienta. In 2025, the Nigerian Army was reported to have announced his arrest, although subsequent developments and conflicting claims surrounding his alleged capture generated further controversy. Earlier this year, the military also warned against relying on unverified claims concerning him, particularly material circulating online.
