Nigerian content creator Adebayo Ridwan, popularly known as Isbae U, has revealed that he feared his career was over following the controversy surrounding him in 2022.
Isbae U said the period was particularly difficult because people who had previously supported him began making negative comments about him amid the backlash.
Speaking about the experience, the content creator recalled asking fellow comedian and content creator Mr Macaroni whether the controversy marked the end of his career.
According to him, the experience taught him how quickly public perception could change.
Isbae U said he eventually chose to step away from sharing details about his personal life and instead focused on improving his craft and entertaining his audience.
He said he concentrated on “doing better, getting better at my craft and becoming a better person,” while allowing the public to form its own opinions about him.
The controversy erupted in 2022 after allegations involving sex-for-roles and leaked explicit videos were circulated online. Isbae U subsequently issued a public apology over the controversy.
Reflecting on his career since then, Isbae U has continued creating content and recently launched Curiosity Made Me Ask, an interview series designed to show audiences a different side of public figures.
He said the concept is aimed at going beyond conventional celebrity interviews and revealing aspects of guests that audiences may not have seen before.
Isbae U also disclosed that he would like to interview United States President Donald Trump as part of the series.
