The husband of 36-year-old Anulika Onyeanusia, who was arrested by the Anambra State Police Command over the alleged sexual abuse of her underage daughter, has recounted how he discovered the incident.
The man, Ikechukwu Onyeanyusi, said he learnt about the alleged abuse after a friend showed him a video involving his wife and their daughter.
According to him, he was returning from his business on Thursday evening when his friend contacted him and showed him the video. He said he had not previously seen the video circulating on social media.
Onyeanyusi recounted his shock after watching the footage and said he immediately took steps to report the matter to the appropriate authorities.
The Anambra State Ministry of Women and Social Welfare shared his account in a video posted on its Facebook page on Saturday. The ministry has been involved in the response to the case and the protection of the children involved.
The suspect was subsequently arrested by the police, while four children were reportedly rescued in connection with the case. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the allegations.
The case has renewed concerns about child sexual abuse and the need for parents, guardians and members of the public to promptly report suspected abuse to law-enforcement and child-protection authorities.
The allegations against Onyeanusia have not been determined by a court.
