The African Democratic Congress Presidential Campaign Council of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has promised to announce additional appointments as it expands its campaign structure ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The council’s Director of Strategic Communication, Phrank Shaibu, made this known in a statement on Saturday following the release of the initial list of campaign officials. He said the appointments represented only an early stage in organising the campaign and did not constitute its final structure.
According to Shaibu, consultations are ongoing, with more responsibilities expected to be assigned as the campaign expands its presence across the country.
He also appealed to supporters whose names were not included in the first list to remain patient, assuring them that their contributions to Atiku’s political journey had not been forgotten.
“Loyalty is remembered. Sacrifice is respected. Friendship is valued,” Shaibu said, adding that “no one should believe that years of commitment and sacrifice have been forgotten.”
The campaign council said it would draw members from across the ADC, experienced political leaders, professionals, young Nigerians and others willing to contribute to its activities.
It also announced plans to unveil zonal and state structures, additional senior appointments and organisational structures extending to wards and polling units across the country.
The campaign said its policy structure was also being strengthened to bring together experts in areas including the cost of living, food security, security, energy, job creation, industrialisation, education, healthcare, infrastructure, housing, public finance, technology, social protection and human capital development.
The announcement comes days after Atiku unveiled his National Campaign Council, with Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as chairman, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai as deputy chairman and Senator Austin Akobundu as Director-General and Campaign Manager.
