Nigerian dancer and entertainer Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, is reportedly being held on remand in a United Kingdom prison and is expected to appear before a London court in September over an alleged assault offence.
The latest development was disclosed by Benjamin Kuti, popularly known as the Oluomo of Derby, who is the founder of a Nigerian community group in the UK. Kuti said he had confirmed that Poco Lee is currently in custody and that his next court appearance has been scheduled for September 15, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Snaresbrook Crown Court in London.
According to Kuti, the September hearing is expected to be a plea hearing, where Poco Lee would ordinarily indicate whether he intends to plead guilty or not guilty to the alleged offence.
Kuti also said he plans to attend the proceedings to support the Nigerian entertainer and stressed the importance of allowing the legal process to take its course.
“I can confirm that the reports are true. Poco Lee is currently on remand in a UK prison,” Kuti said.
Reports of Poco Lee’s alleged detention first began circulating on social media on August 19, with early reports claiming that he had been arrested in the UK over an alleged rape case. At the time, however, there was no official confirmation from UK law enforcement or a court, and details surrounding the allegation were unclear.
The latest information now provides a more specific account of his reported legal status, although the details of the alleged offence remain limited. PUNCH reported that an email sent to the court seeking confirmation of the proceedings had not received a response as of the time of publication.
There have also been separate allegations made against Poco Lee by US-based Nigerian rapper Ms Jorji, who alleged that he attempted to sexually assault her girlfriend about two years ago. However, there is currently no verified information establishing that those allegations are connected to the UK case.
