The founder and General Overseer of Rock Word Church and Dominion International, Pastor (Dr.) Adamson Aromaegbe, has died at the age of 69.Aromaegbe, a prominent gospel preacher based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, reportedly died on Friday, August 21, 2026. The circumstances surrounding his death have not been disclosed.
His death was confirmed by the leadership of Rock Word Church in an official statement issued on Sunday and signed by Rev. Nnamdy Echezona on behalf of the church.
The church described Aromaegbe as a faithful servant of God, visionary leader, teacher, mentor and Kingdom builder, saying his ministry had touched the lives of many people.
The statement said the ministry was mourning his physical departure while celebrating what it described as a life and legacy dedicated to Christian service.
The church leadership also appealed to members, friends and well-wishers to pray for the late pastor’s family, Rock Word Church and the wider Dominion International community during the period of mourning.
Details of his “Celebration of Life” and funeral arrangements have not yet been announced. The church said further information would be communicated in due course.
Aromaegbe’s death has since prompted reactions from members of the Christian community and those who knew his ministry, with tributes highlighting his years of preaching, teaching and pastoral leadership.
