Victims recently rescued from kidnappers in Ogun State have recounted the terrifying moments they spent in captivity, saying they had lost all hope of survival and believed they were going to die.
One of the survivors, a woman who sustained a gunshot wound during the attack in the Ogbere Forest area, said the kidnappers forced the victims deep into the forest after ambushing them. According to her, they were beaten, threatened with death, and made to believe they would never return home.
“We’ve already said our last prayers.”
The victims regained their freedom during a joint operation by the Ogun and Lagos State Police Commands under Operation Kosaye. The operation led to the rescue of five kidnapped victims, the neutralisation of four suspected kidnappers, and the arrest of several other suspects after security operatives raided forests and criminal hideouts across both states.
The rescued victims praised the police and other security personnel for saving their lives, saying they had completely given up hope before the rescue operation. Some are still receiving medical treatment and psychological support following their ordeal
