The United States military has launched a fresh wave of airstrikes against Iranian military targets, marking the seventh consecutive night of operations as tensions between Washington and Tehran continue to escalate. The latest offensive was confirmed by the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which said the strikes were carried out under the direction of President Donald Trump to further weaken Iran’s military capabilities.

According to CENTCOM, the operation targeted key Iranian military assets, including air defence systems, coastal surveillance installations, logistics infrastructure, missile and drone facilities, and maritime capabilities believed to have been used in attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. military said the strikes were intended to reduce Iran’s ability to threaten international navigation and regional security.

The renewed military action comes amid an escalating conflict that has seen both countries exchange repeated attacks following the collapse of a fragile ceasefire. Iran has responded with missile and drone strikes against U.S. military facilities and allied infrastructure in several Gulf states, while accusing Washington of targeting civilian infrastructure inside Iran.

The latest exchange of hostilities has heightened concerns over the stability of the Middle East and the security of global energy supplies. The Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of the world’s oil exports passes, remains at the centre of the conflict, with repeated attacks disrupting commercial shipping and driving volatility in global energy markets.

International leaders have continued to call for restraint and renewed diplomatic engagement to prevent a broader regional war. However, with both Washington and Tehran showing little sign of backing down, analysts warn that the conflict could deepen further unless meaningful negotiations resume in the coming days.
