The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of three students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) by suspected kidnappers and says a manhunt is underway to secure their rescue.

Police spokesperson SP Ramhan Nansel said the incident occurred at about 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday when armed men attacked Living Seed Lodge, an off-campus student hostel located in a bushy area on the outskirts of the university community in Lafia. The command said it received a distress call from the university’s Chief Security Officer shortly after the attack.

According to the police, security operatives responded immediately, but the gunmen escaped with three students before they arrived. Tactical teams have since been deployed to comb nearby forests and possible escape routes, while intelligence-led operations are ongoing to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victims unharmed.

The police urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist the rescue effort. University authorities have also appealed to students to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity around campus and surrounding hostels
