Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side Niger Tornadoes have commenced a six-day close camping exercise as preparations intensify for the 2026/27 season, with the technical crew using the programme to assess players, improve fitness levels and strengthen team cohesion ahead of the new campaign.
The intensive camp, supervised by newly appointed Technical Adviser Kabiru Dogo, is expected to focus on tactical drills, physical conditioning and evaluating both new signings and existing squad members. The exercise forms part of the club’s wider rebuilding process following the departure of several key players at the end of last season.
Coach Dogo recently appealed to supporters to remain patient as the Ikon Allah Boys undergo a comprehensive restructuring aimed at building a more competitive squad. He acknowledged that replacing a large number of departing players would take time but expressed confidence that the team would emerge stronger through disciplined preparation and quality recruitment.
Niger Tornadoes have been active in the transfer market and have already strengthened their squad with several new arrivals, including Derrick Julu, Bashir Musa, Olalusi Michael, Zakka John and Musa Abdulafeez, as management continues efforts to reinforce key areas before the league season begins.
The Minna-based club narrowly avoided relegation last season, finishing 14th in the NPFL after securing survival on the final day. With the new league campaign scheduled to kick off on August 28, the six-day camping programme is expected to play a vital role in helping the players adapt to Dogo’s philosophy and ensuring the team is fully prepared for a more competitive outing in the upcoming season.
