The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the maiden National Intermediate Games (EKO 2026) has officially unveiled the competition’s logo and mascot, marking another major milestone in preparations for the youth sports festival scheduled to take place in Lagos from October 1 to 15, 2026.
The colourful mascot, named Lasgidi, was introduced as the official symbol of the Games, reflecting the vibrant culture, resilience and youthful spirit of Lagos. Organisers said the mascot and logo were carefully designed to inspire young athletes and promote unity, excellence and sportsmanship among participants from across the country.
Speaking during the unveiling ceremony in Ikeja, officials of the LOC and the National Sports Commission (NSC) described the event as a significant step towards delivering a successful inaugural edition of the Games. They expressed confidence that the championship would provide a platform for discovering and nurturing Nigeria’s next generation of sporting talents.
The National Intermediate Games will bring together thousands of young athletes from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to compete in various sporting events. Organisers believe the competition will strengthen grassroots sports development and serve as a pathway for identifying future national and international champions.
The unveiling of the logo and mascot signals the beginning of the final countdown to EKO 2026, with organisers reaffirming their commitment to staging a world-class event that will leave a lasting legacy for youth sports development in Nigeria.
