Actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliott has said he does not believe that constantly switching political parties is the solution to Nigeria’s challenges, arguing that meaningful change comes from commitment and service rather than moving from one political camp to another.
Speaking during a recent interview, Elliott stated that he has remained loyal to the All Progressives Congress and sees little value in politicians frequently changing affiliations for political advantage. According to him, changing parties does not automatically translate into better governance or national development.
The Lagos lawmaker argued that what matters most is the quality of leadership, policies, and the willingness of elected officials to serve the people effectively. He maintained that Nigeria’s problems require sustained efforts and institutional reforms rather than political defections.
Elliott’s comments come amid ongoing realignments and defections across Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections, with several politicians moving between parties in search of new alliances and opportunities
