Real Madrid have fined midfielders Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni €500,000 each following a heated altercation during training.

The club confirmed the sanctions after concluding an internal disciplinary investigation into the incident, which reportedly escalated into a physical confrontation at the club’s Valdebebas training ground.

According to reports, tensions between both players had been building for days before the clash, with Valverde later requiring hospital treatment for a head injury sustained during the incident.

In an official statement, Real Madrid said both players appeared before the disciplinary investigator, accepted responsibility for their actions, and apologised to each other, teammates, coaching staff, the club, and supporters.

Despite the heavy fines, the club decided against imposing sporting suspensions, meaning Tchouaméni remains available for selection ahead of Sunday’s El Clásico against Barcelona. Valverde, however, is expected to miss the match due to medical advice following his injury.

The incident has intensified scrutiny on Real Madrid’s dressing room atmosphere amid growing pressure surrounding the club’s season.
